TUPELOS GARDEN CENTER SINCE 1953
TUPELOS GARDEN CENTER SINCE 1953
Mid South Nursery and Garden Center has been a cornerstone of the Tupelo community since 1953. Our journey began when Witt Marion ran the Sportsman’s Market in East Tupelo, a general store that specialized in hunting and fishing equipment and featured a small nursery section. Over time, Witt decided to focus solely on the nursery, and thus, Mid South Nursery was born.
In 1976, Witt's daughter Bettie Fellows and her husband Byron returned to Tupelo from Houston, Texas, to join the family business. Along with Bettie's brother Bob Marion, they expanded the nursery, moving it to its current location on Coley Road. Spanning over three acres, Mid South became one of the largest nurseries in the region, known for its extensive selection and knowledgeable staff.
Today, Mid South Nursery and Garden Center is under new ownership, continuing the tradition of excellence while introducing fresh ideas and innovations to better serve our customers. Curt Luke and Michelle Guyton, the new owners, are dedicated to preserving the beloved tradition of this historic nursery while introducing new features to enhance the customer experience.
Curt Luke grew up in Greenville, Mississippi, where his father was a landscape architect. This early exposure to landscaping sparked Curt’s passion for the field. He pursued his education at Mississippi State University, earning an associate degree in horticulture and a bachelor's degree in landscape contracting and landscape architecture, with a minor in business. Curt has 30 years of experience in the landscape industry, beginning his career at age 16 by working with his dad. His extensive knowledge and commitment to quality make him a perfect fit for leading Mid South into the future.
Michelle Guyton brings a wealth of expertise with her 22-year background in the landscape industry. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture and has worked for notable firms such as Dalhoff Thomas Daws in Memphis, TN, where she focused on land planning, and Madison Planting and Design in Madison, MS, where she specialized in design/build for residential and commercial projects. Michelle also owned MG Landscape Group in Tupelo, which further honed her skills in design/build projects. In addition to her landscape experience, Michelle is a certified K-12 art teacher, holds a Master's in Educational Leadership, and is National Board Certified in Art. She taught art for 14 years while continuing to draw landscape plans. Michelle grew up in Pontotoc, MS, and her blend of artistic and landscape design skills brings a unique and creative touch to Mid South.
