Our Story
From Humble Beginnings to a Thriving Nursery
Mid South Nursery began as a small garden center in East Tupelo, founded by Witt Marion in 1953. Over the years, it has grown into a three-acre nursery on Coley Road, thanks to the dedication and hard work of the Marion family. Today, we continue to build on this legacy with new ownership that is dedicated to preserving our rich history while introducing innovative features and expansions.

Preserving Tradition + Expanding Horizons
Curt Luke and Michelle Guyton, the new owners of Mid South Nursery and Garden Center, are committed to preserving its rich legacy while enhancing the customer experience. With 30 years of landscape experience, Curt's background in horticulture and landscape architecture from Mississippi State University guides Mid South into the future. Michelle brings 22 years of landscape industry expertise, adding a creative touch with her artistic and teaching background.
One of their exciting goals is to restore the beloved Christmas shop, reopening before Thanksgiving to bring back holiday cheer. They also plan to expand offerings with more indoor plants, home décor, and unique garden accessories.

Expanding for the Future
Curt and Michelle are dedicated to both preserving and expanding Mid South’s legacy. They are enhancing the nursery with new features, including more parking and immersive garden spaces for inspiration and relaxation. They are also restoring the beloved Christmas shop, set to reopen before Thanksgiving, offering a wide range of holiday decor, live trees, and more.
The large greenhouse is being renovated into a teaching space for classes and events, leveraging Michelle’s experience as an art teacher. Additionally, Curt’s landscape business, Luke Landscape Design, will be housed on-site, making Mid South a comprehensive one-stop shop for all gardening and landscaping needs.
Bob Marion continues to contribute his expertise part-time, ensuring continuity and maintaining the high standards set by the Marion family. Curt and Michelle’s slogan, "Growing Tradition," reflects their commitment to honoring Mid South’s history while fostering new growth and opportunities.
